The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Shooting Last Night - Flatbush Near Woodrufff - 1 Dead - 4am-ish

Any info? Please send me a note and I'll forward anonymously.

Cops tell me one is dead, scene is on Flatbush between Parkside and Woodruff. But it would appear that one got hit but survived and took off, leaving Woodruff.

This was at it appears 10:30 am Saturday:

The Daily News picked up the story. Seems one victim got to the hospital after being hit in the chin. Authorities are investigating whether the shooter may have been someone else that also got hit.

If the 71st says it's okay for the rest of us because the victim was in a gang or targeted by the shooter, well we just have to start tweeting that #*&% because shaming seems the only way to go. Of course with people like Imani trying to make sure there are no police at all in our neighborhoods no wonder the 71st are confused about what this neighborhood really wants and what to do.
Crown Heights gets all the attention because they're more organized, more clear, with less fighting and politics. The fact I'm saying that about Crown Heights with its history really tells you something about screwy PLG.

No way to ever find good when such violence happens so close to home BUT I have lived here on Ocean Ave for almost 20yrs and the fact that this one of the few major shootings with the weather over 75degree(block gets hotter when its hot) AND from what I heard those involved not even from the area, just couldn't resist getting that late night jerk chicken...that said I feel safe as ever in Flatbush...ah excuse me Prospect Lefferts Garden :)

11:57, enough with the denial and they're not from here etc etc. There have been plenty shootings here in broad daylight, whether they resulted in somebody killed or not. There have been shootings where innocent bystanders were killed. Years ago when we moved here we were so frustrated to learn the approach of the neighborhood boosters to crime was to deny and cover up. Ever since it's why all of us have had to struggle so much now to get the attention of the 71st. Nobody ever wanted it before. Another thing, don't believe the 71st when they say they have unmarked cars here in response to complaints we don't get patrols. Last summer when a group of teens were breaking into houses and going along looking for open windows and signs nobody was home, they literally worked the blocks of Lefferts Manor up and down the streets street after street all day into the night. All this is while the 71st were claiming they had unmarked cars looking for them. The kids weren't traveling along the backyards, they were walking down the sidewalks, sitting on stoops and ringing doorbells. They only reason they were caught is because a resident saw them at night after they'd robbed a multitude of houses, and called it in. Only to be told nobody would come when he called 911 because 911 had not been informed there was a manhunt and then didn't care when the resident told her as much. Yep, welcome to the hood.
