Hmm. Pilar Beauty Salon is about to get a huge makeover, to open in a month. or so. Don't remember Pilar? This should jog your memory...it closed only recently.
A woman walking out of the place today noted that it would be a baked goods, sandwiches and grocery sort of place. Most likely of the upscale variety, if one can still read books by their cover in the Kindle age. I'm confused by that threesome - baked goods, sandwiches and grocery. If it's not a bodega, then it must be more like the old Green Grape's Provisions or Larder, right? The space isn't big enough for a Union Market. I'm still looking for someone with the balls to open a hair cutting AND sandwich shop. And auto parts.
The Q at Parkside
News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Is that on the same block as Tafari Tribe? I thought that Tafari Cafe was taking a really long time to open, but then someone told me that it's a special event space only and not going to be a restaurant that's open to the public. Sort of a bummer - I was looking forward to seeing that they were going to offer.
Sounds like this new place is going to be a bodega, but whatevs.
I think it's going to be considerably more bourgie than a bodega.
My mom used to go to that hair salon. Why did is close?
Hooray for no Union Market; it's more pricey than Whole Foods.
Sorry, that anonymous looking comment at 1:52 pm should have been from my profile! Sorry, Q! :)
There's something vaguely Talmudic going on here...
Say it were a Larder? Wouldn't that then be pricier than the Whole Foods AND Union Market?
And more importantly...will they accept BITCOIN?
This sounds a lot like Outpost, plus sandwiches. But Outpost is closed every time I walk by now. Anybody know why?
PLG Outpost has been closed due to a mysterious leak in the ceiling. I'm told it was being looked into today and they'll be open again ASAP.
