The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Pranic Breathing: The Wacky Doctor's Game?

On a bizarre weather day like today, it's time to reflect on something of a more spiritual and timeless nature...

While leafing through a colleagues book on Yoga - "Yoga Mind & Body" credited to Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, I came across this picture:

To those of you of a certain age, born perhaps in the '60s...does that Chakra chart not remind you of something? As I recall, it was the funny bone that was most difficult to remove...or the rubber band one.

Perhaps these are charts which were carefully studied by thrice elected Council Member Mathieu Eugene when he earned his medical degree? It takes a steady hand, Dr. Eugene...

Now you know I'm no fan of our City Councilperson, but that is a bit harsh. He really did study medicine (in Belgium and Cuba, as I recall) and the fact that he's never been certified here doesn't negate that. However, it also doesn't give him the right to call himself Doctor, either.
