Now that 123 on the Park is occupied, a strange war has brewed with the Post Office. It appears that they're not recognizing 123 Parkside as an actual address. Letter carriers are refusing to deliver mail if they're not addressed to 10 St. Paul's Court, the original address for the Caledonian Hospital. The poor folks (well, not THAT poor) living there must endure the worst possible humiliation - walking over to the Church Avenue post office at Bedford, which I can attest is just as annoying as the Empire Blvd station for 11225. On the other hand, they'll get a chance to see more of the neighborhood on their daily walk!
The poltergeist of Caledonia lives on...
I would also suggest that management at 123 stop using the below mailbox, positioned right next to the show-horse field.
The Q at Parkside
News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

the 11226 post office? It is on Church between Bedford and Flatbush, but closer to Bedford....
True, true. Brain misfire. Gotta do more Head Squats.
Since when can mail carriers regard delivering mail as optional??? Are you sure this isn't some petty bureaucratic pissing match at a higher level? In my experience at least, the carriers around here are the best employees the PO has. The real idiots stay indoors and find stupid things like this to waste tax dollars.
My understanding is that 123 On The Park is not an address, simply the project name. If that's the case, I think its a legit point to not deliver mail to a pretend address.
Yeah, that's not an actual address, just a catchy name.
I wonder how they worked it out with the Richard Meier building. The address One Grand Army Plaza is completely made up, yet it shows up that way everywhere, including in PropertyShark. The actual addresses are 272 St. Johns Place and 1 Eastern Parkway. Maybe there are some papers to be filed that these people have forgotten?
Although 123 On The Park is so indefinite - I mean there are parks all over, who's to say which park? If I were in charge of granting new address requests, I'd turn this one down. Also, I object to the capitalization of "the" in the title - you're not supposed to do that unless it's the first word in the title. I'm with the PO on this!
Oh, wait - it's 123 Parkside Ave. That sounds like an actual address, and it it is - the lot in question, according to PropertyShark, has the addresses 100 Parkside Ave. (principal address), 113-141 Parkside Ave., 123-129 Parkside Ave., and 53 - 63 Woodruff Ave. (alternate addresses). If the City of New York recognizes it, that's good enough for me.
Also note that 100 St Pauls Court is NOT listed as an address for that lot (according again to PropertyShark, there is no such address in Brooklyn). Additionally, St. Pauls Court is far away from this building (Woodruff, Crooke, and Caton are between it and Parkside), so this is really screwed up.
Opps again - sorry, 10 St Pauls Court is the same lot as 129 St Pauls Place, occupied by St Paul's Episcopal Church (hence the street names), so this is totally impossible.
Babs. I had no idea you were going to take this so seriously! It's 10 St. Paul's Place, and the issue I'm pretty sure is that the entrance is over on Woodruff/St. Paul's and has nothing to do with Parkside. It would be like the Phat Albert's saying it was on Washington. I get it. They want them to do the paperwork. The resident who shared this with me wasn't too worried. They'll get it worked out and everyone will be able to get their Victoria's Secrets catalogs and credit card offers.
Aha! Thanks for the clarification - and those big old developers should certainly do their paperwork. I'm sure they can afford the staff! And you should know that I take everything you say completely seriously!
