Lest you stopped believing in miracles...a bit of god's rays shone down on this holy plot of land. Thanks wisefolk Duane and Sonya for witnessing the "birth" and capturing it digitally. Hope you brought the myrrh! Lord knows there'll be mirth aplenty to go with that myrrh! Oh joyous day!
The Q at Parkside
News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Treeeeeeeez!! Thank you Parkside Committee and Parks & Rec for making this happen, and the Q for covering it. I expect to be ridiculously happy every time I pass these trees daily. Others will too, though I can't vouch for their giddy enthusiasm. What a great way to end the year.
I, too, am excited to see these trees planted. May they grow and prosper ans provide joy and shade to all. Thank you to all who made this possible. And a happy new year to all.
Parkdog
Fantastic news. Happy to help steward them, especially if there's a nearby source of water. Has that been arranged? And what species were planted? Did they replace the two dead trees further down by 205 Parkside in front of the Popeyes?
I saw them tonight and I love them... May they grow and please put those gates around them... and signs that say don't let your dogs pee on them..
Thanks to all who worked so long and so hard for all of them...

Who is going to water them?
Hi fellow Flatbushers.
I know that this blog sometimes alerts readers to new businesses coming to the neighborhood. I live near the intersection of Flatbush and Albemarle Road and I see new construction across the street from the renovation to the old King's movie theater -- right next to the Foot Locker store. It used to be a discount store; it was completely torn down to the ground. Curious what's going up there.
Also, the vegetable market that's right next to the Jehovah's Witness hall (at Flat. and Albemarle) is gone. It's being gutted as of 12/27. Anyone know? I hope a spiffy laundromat is being built there!
