60 Clarkson. From homeless shelter, to market rate in, what, four months?
And what's the significance, you might ask? These were all big, livable rent stabilized apartments. Homes, as it were. Barry Hersko is moving lickety split towards deregulation. And he's $200 shy of getting there...

Exposed fluorescent tubes for lights on the ceilings??? His taste is apparently as bad as his character...
He may have been getting more for the spaces when he was renting them to homeless families. ....now he will just have less intense/needy tenants
Wasn't there some type of activity regarding getting the place fixed up and getting rent stabilization protections for the homeless people staying there? If you wrote about its resolution, my apologies if I missed it.
What I know is: Barry was not interested in "fixing it up" for the homeless clients. He wanted them out, and most got Section 8 vouchers and moved elsewhere. Some decided to stay and fight. Those folks are still there. I'll get more info from the advocates leading the lawsuit. But I don't see Barry Hersko suddenly turning into a good landlord. And I don't know what he can legally charge at this point, after years of "preferential rent," DHS contracts, and now (shoddy) capital improvements.
