The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Tugboat Pulls Into Harbor

Espresso lovers, your wait is nearly over. Tugboat, the little coffee-engine that could, is ready for its closeup. The Q was in the joint today enjoying the company of co-owners and longtime Brooklynites Chad and Kola as they plotted their opening once the ink dries on their permits. The place is on Flatbush just north of the elegant ristorante chez Gino's. Could be as early as Saturday...stay posted for info on the Grand Opening. Gentlemen, start your grinders.

great news! i hope that at least the support here (a total of 6 people) keeps them from going the way of other ill fated establishments in the area.

Trust me, they will get plenty support. The newly done joint is being talked-up across the Park and as far as the Hill and the Greene...

All I want is a latté made by someone who seems to like their customers. That's not too much to ask : )

We have been walking all the way to Steeplechase in Windsor Terrace for coffee on the weekends. This will be a most welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Tugboat's address is 546 Flatbush Avenue.

One request of the new Tugboat owners: please don't put outlets within reach of the tables. Battery life is the only way to enforce a limit on laptop squatting. I'd hate to see the place turn into an encampment of tumblr drones.

Lovely! I stopped by tonight--they seem lovely, and their grand opening is tomorrow (Saturday 1/5). They're going to be open 8-8 on weekends and 7-7 on week days.
