Alls you gots to do is look at the below two pictures top 'n' bottom, then exhale. Whoa! The brilliant blogging Montrose Morris (a pen name, don't you know) keeps chugging away at her Brooklyn One Building At A Time series with this post about the building at the corner of Nostrand and Parkside. Discussion of roofing thrown in at no extra charge in the comments.
The Q at Parkside
News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Oh wow! Cool pic!
I spent so much time on and near that corner as a youth that this is amazing to me. To think that homes such as those morphed into storefronts and apartments is actually a little disheartening. Yes I know things change and progress is not prone to sentimentality. But there's nothing wrong with wanting more for the community from which one hails and holds those sentimental attachments.
