The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

More Violence On Flatbush

Four shot outside "restaurant." Oy gevalt. What does anyone know about this one? Near Winthrop, I'm told. No one dead, so we hear.

UPDATE: Definitely not related to the bad guy shooting two early mornings before. D Avenue is cooperating, and arrests are imminent.

Five shootings over the weekend; maybe AB and here minions finally figured out the most effective way to slow gentrification.

Gentrifiers tend to be the least affected by crime. So, crime isn't real effective at stopping gentrification.

The only thing that will effectively stop highly educated, employable people from moving into cities is to locate jobs that want highly educated, employable people OUTSIDE of cities.

That doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon.

I'm sorry but who the hell is D Avenue?

That's the name of Richard's bar where the shooting took place. As in deh-Avenue, mon.

@Anonymous - Not until the next mayoral election.

Good point - someone just wrote to say that the comments made it sound like we (collective) were pointing fingers at the crew that hangs out around Parkside/Flatbush and the small-time guys that deal. No. They weren't involved in either, so says Vinnie. And he's always been right on.

It may FEEL like the guys hanging around are the guys shooting, but as is most often the case it's someone else, someone not nearly so obvious. As another voice of reason just wrote, let's let the fuzz do their jobs. If you have specific information about this shooting, by all means call 911 or send me a note and I'll forward anonymously.
