The Q is stunned to learn that "She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named" has such a warm seat at the table of the CB9 Executive Committee. For the time-impaired, the Exec never legally voted to strike my revote on Empire Blvd Reconstruction that passed 6-5 on Wednesday. Frustrated. Yep. Not even sure what this all means. Guess we'll find out on Tuesday night.
Wildest of all, they agreed to hear the disagreeable Cabia Doily's "Community Led" alternative proposal for Empire Blvd as a full agenda item at upcoming Tuesday's full Board meeting. Doily's community must be very narrow indeed. She's earned the animosity of all the elected officials, the Jewish Community and the dozens of people she's called out for "lies" and "corruption."
I know my fellow Board members are doing their best. It's a tough situation. But I guess I would have thought we'd have shut Cabia Doily down by now. I have no problem calling her out as an enemy to dialogue, compromise and democracy itself.
The Q at Parkside
News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Names and contact information of the exec committee members, please?
This is outrageous. Is this legal?
Looks like Demetrius is trying to deal with a couple trolls by meeting their every demand. I can't see that working at all.
I don't know why the DOT is even seeking a letter from CB9. The community has expressed their desire for these improvements over and over again. We voted for the congressman who placed the earmark and collectively for the congress that passed the bill and the president who signed the bill. We even petitioned the government to implement the plan the DOT designed.
No one voted for CB9 members. These are just bureaucratic appointees of the same political machine that couldn't get a democrat on the ballot for the special election that elected Dianna Richardson. Many are good people to be sure, but they are not representative of the community. I can think of no worse way to gauge community sentiment than via these so called community boards.
Isn't this kind of like putting the PLG Spitter in charge of community policing?

Anon, I could not agree more. What can we do about it? Petition the mayor to overrule CB9?
Is there any mechanism for a case where a Community Board has become so unrepresentative, so unproductive, or just so batshit crazy that a district can somehow disband the Board or decertify its authority?
What can the community do? We are being held hostage by a thug.
Wait -- does this mean Alicia is now a member of CB9? Or is she just having a special meeting? Kind of silly of the Exec Committee to deign to meet with her privately.
ebell, It means you can get up and scream at the next meeting that you were not invited and therefore the process is exclusionary and does not represent the entire community.
I know a great hair salon that will help you out with your hair for the occasion.
So she basically got what she wanted, no construction behind her townhouse annoying her and and the airb&b guests she makes money from. Screaming and shouting enough will bring you success it appears just like a kid who wants ice-cream throws a tantrum and the parents give in.
Wow CB9 is just awful they really believe she is doing it for the people? and now Empire will remain a ghost town.
Yep. She's such a good blocker the NY Giants should sign her to offensive line. Never seen anything like it. Tonight she brought a toddler with her, while she was screaming, yelling, using the kid as a shield almost. The poor kid looked so confused. It was like child abuse. Crazy shit, man. Can't make it up.
Has DCP officially declined to rezone CD9?
DCP can only do so much at one time. It will likely focus on areas that bring the city the most benefit: ENY and South Bronx come to mind.
Eventually, they might follow the requests of specific community boards. It isn't like the request from CB9 ever expires.
Good, bring on the Holiday Inn. Give her AirBnB a run for its money.
Holiday Inn, fine. More likely is a "Sleep Inn" housing the homeless, I think.
