The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Right On Rogers - House o' Juice

House of Juice. Terrific owners, cool vibe. Tried some of their super-healthy juice at Lindiwe's Expressions In Ceramics at her MLK Day celebration. Not sure what was in it, but afterwards I was able to recall the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and finish the Friday NY Times Crossword without cheating (much). Check out this amazing menu and get on over there:

that's great but we need a dry cleaner sans bulletproof glass and restaurant with a real kitchen and enough tables and chairs to have dinner with the whole family.

There's a dry cleaner on rogers between Linden and Martense. Fire away.

I heartily agree with my anonymous compatriot. Enough coffee, pie and juice. And definitely enough bars that happen to serve some food too. We need a big restaurant with comfortable seating. IHOP opened down on Church and Rogers I hear. In case anyone gets a hankering.

For family dining I love bringing the kids to Melany at Lenox & Flatbush. They like rice and beans. Nothing worse than bringing kids to a fancy place and having to worry that they'll flip out. I'm thinking Castillo de Jagua will cover that ground nicely as well. Soupy Rice y'all!

The mushroom-leek soup is quite good

As a small business owner (love saying that!), I think it's worth a minute to consider what services have been completely obliterated by chain stores and the internet, and then ask, "Why so many coffee shops?" As for a restaurant, perhaps if landlords hadn't started jacking up rents in advance, we'd have a daring soul doing dining on Nostrand or Rogers.
