The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Victory on Ocean! Tree Guards!

Thanks to the tenacious dedication of Amy M., Ocean Avenue is getting tree guards. She simply wouldn't take no for an answer, and we can all thank her for a more purty street along the park.

And thanks to Jesse at the Borough President's office for pushing it through. And Marty too, of course.

Wowee! Anything we can do to get these on Empire? The plots between Nostrand and Rogers are especially nasty and the whole area smells like THE WORST doggy toilet bowl. I've also got some ideas about pressure washing sidewalks where the trash gets piled, but maybe that's another topic....

I noticed new lines being painted on Flatbush today, too. Is the congestion reduction project starting??

There is one tree on Rutland II in the Manor that is missing a tree guard. Why can't the city come and rectify this issue?

Thanks also to Paul G. for his efforts to bring the tree guards to Ocean.

What is the process for tree guards to be installed? Winthrop between Bedford and Rogers could use some. People are not cleaning after their pets.

The opportunity came up this past spring. I'm hopeful they'll do it again. Here was the post:
