From past experience, you can drive OUT of the neighborhood (although only to the south on Labor Day itself) BUT you can't return until Tuesday. One exception would be if you have a driveway, but it's a crapshot as to whether it would be blocked on your return.
Families/folks returning from a labor day weekend spent out of town need to be able to drive back into the neighborhood at a reasonable hour on Monday night, beyond 10pm is not reasonable. Tuesday morning is back to work. Hoping the streets are passable by then. Any insight on if that is unrealistic?
Do you know if you can cross Eastern Parkway and/or Empire Blvd on Monday evening? We're planning on taking the LIRR from Nostrand and wondering if we should bike, take the bus, or take an Uber to/from the station.
Don't drive or count on a taxi until Tuesday morning. You can get from Nostrand/LIRR on the 2/5 train. Even biking will be difficult.
Gotcha. Thx for the response!
Anon 11:31--I ONCE made the mistake of driving home from Labor Day weekend on Monday night--the last mile took HOURS. That was >25 years ago--maybe things have improved--I wouldn't hold my breath!
