The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Psssst...this one's big

Mr. Jim Mamary, he of the Lincoln Park Tavern, has placed for review a liquor license request for 504 Flatbush, the space right next to Elite Salon and the Coop Design Studio, just north of Lincoln Road.

The working name? DJ Oyster. Not kidding folks. Restaurant. With seats. And bar. I suspect, though I'm not 100% certain, that they will serve oysters among other things.

Oops - sorry - read from the bottom up not the top down (trying to catch up). So see my comments on the Must to Read thread.

Oysters for this community, lol? Not sure that will fly. Better profits by building a Cracker Barrel there. It caters to the local community's wants, greasy, dirty, and fatty food. This neighborhood is so pathetic!!

I, for one, welcome our new oyster overlords.

Oysters are so....specific. But that's good news. We are LPT fans and regular customers and were even fans of the Mamary owned BBQ place on its good nights not off nights in the kitchen.

Sounds awesome. Love oysters. An oyster bar post ice skating at lakeside sounds like a great duo!

Clearly Anon at 11:24 knows nothing of the local restaurant scene. Many nearby places, including The Castello Plan on Cortelyou Rd., have oyster night with special prices on the bivalves, and they do quite well - in a similar neighborhood. I will be very happy not to travel for my fix!
