The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Lest you think it's another April Fool's joke, here's the proof at Sterling and Rogers:

The Japanese or whatever site is across the street, on the south side of Sterling (formerly the funeral home). The entire space has a shed around it for now; I assume they'll be opening up the exterior walls to have larger windows.

I'll keep my eye out for any developments at the former funeral home. My half-Japanese room mate is absolutely chomping at the bit for something other than Sushi Tatsu!

Oh yeah. Muffins and Sushi. I really want to like Sushi Tatsu, but not too good.

I'm calling it now! Rogers will be the new Franklin mark my words!

I asked the workers at the site if it was going to be a Japanese restaurant and they laughed and shook their heads and then another day one told me that it would be Mexican. They have already taken out big parts of the exterior walls and it is going to have lots of windows.

Maybe it will be another Feel Beauty Supply

Not on Rogers, but, Desserts by Michael Allen (formerly of Clinton Hill) is coming to Rutland & Nostrand. Now I can get both macarons and Dough doughnuts on the same block on my way to the 2/5 train.
