The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

South Lefferts News

A reader may have been a bit premature on Maverick comics. Seems it was just an awning change:

And yes, the MTA has moved in semi-permanently onto the Q at Parkside Plaza. Work on the station begins soon, with over a year of work to go. No pain, no gain.

I thought I posted on this before, but maybe I forgot to press enter. I think it's inappropriate to title a post with a racist, Confederate slogan, even ironically. You wouldn't ironically title a post "Arbeit Macht Frei," would you?

you know, i can think of no way to make "arbeit macht frei" funny. so my answer to your question is no.

"The South's Gonna Rise Again" has been used countless times in popular music and fiction (I think its first use was in a song actually). You're being knee-jerk, but I write these posts quickly and not as if I'm running for office, but I also don't want to offend ANYONE on such a gorgeous day.

Born and raised in this hood;temporarily left when I went away to college;moved to
Long Island when I came back from college to raise children. I never felt at home until I came back ten years ago. My children and I love the diversity, the flavor and the people- imagine people actually tell you good morning and ask you how was your day.
The neighborhood is awesome, and I second Parkdog's comment... Q thank you for taking the time to to write this blog. I check it everyday. Like you, I'm very proud to call PLG my home.

Yay for Maverick Comics! Glad they're sticking around. Now everybody go buy a comic from that guy. Or action figure.

I hereby call myself out as the tipster who jumped the gun on this one. My apologies, Q & Maverick! Glad you're both here!

Check the blog everyday like Parkdog... I have neighbors who I really believe do not know what Lakeside is and they've been here for 30 years.

And Nadia... I had a life experience VERY similar to yours except minus the kids...
