Regardless of whether you pluralize or use the possessive or both, thanks are due to nearly 200 of you who signed the petition. As a result, the Market (wherein goods will be sold by farmers) will start at the end of March at the Q at Parkside plaza. Two farmers have signed on with Seeds in the Middle, the founder of which wrote a fascinating piece in the Daily News a couple days ago about the lack of market options in minority neighborhoods, particularly during winters.
Here's Nancie Katz's piece. The adorable picture below is from the story. As a native of Iowa, I can attest that the girl is making the right choice with that particular ear.

This is one of the more exciting, upbeat pieces of news in the New Year. First the trees on Parkside, and now the farmers'market coming. Yay! Good work Rudy and crew. (Which the latter thought also compels a good luck shout out to Rudy Crew over at Medgar):-)
Frickin Sweet. 2 farmers is a great start!
I am sooooo thrill!
I heard that there were quite a few requests to move it earlier in the week. Did anything come of that?
I didn't hear that Kim. However, Friday is a good day considering other markets in the area. It's also when the farmers have free. Friday seems ideal to me, for picking things up for the weekend. No?
Also, for anyone who reads the comments, I must note that this project is separate from the Parkside Committees work, in the sense that it's the "programming" that happens ON the plaza, rather than the committee's work to make the plaza itself happen. Does that make sense?
In other words, it's a Seeds in the Middle market, not a Parkside Committee market.
In regards to the day of the week the market is to be held on, we collected a LOT of signatures at Play Kids, 99% of the people who signed were psyched that the market was to be on Friday, just in time for weekend cooking.
That's funny, PlayKids was where I had that conversation (thanks for the easy-peasy Christmas shopping, Shelley!). But maybe that's when there was a smaller sample size. The conversation was along the lines of moving it further from the Saturday morning GAP market. I'm going either way :).
There were a few people who mentioned that it would have been nicer earlier in the week (as you said) but overall most were happy to have a market much closer to home.
And THANK YOU for shopping local for your Christmas gifts. :)
Cool news! We dropped off a couple signed petition sheets at Playkids so good to see it's happening.
