The Q at Parkside

(for those for whom the Parkside Q is their hometrain)

News and Nonsense from the Brooklyn neighborhood of Lefferts and environs, or more specifically a neighborhood once known as Melrose Park. Sometimes called Lefferts Gardens. Or Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Or PLG. Or North Flatbush. Or Caledonia (west of Ocean). Or West Pigtown. Across From Park Slope. Under Crown Heights. Near Drummer's Grove. The Side of the Park With the McDonalds. Jackie Robinson Town. Home of Lefferts Manor. West Wingate. Near Kings County Hospital. Or if you're coming from the airport in taxi, maybe just Flatbush is best.

Lots of Good Stuff Happening at New Coffee Joint "Bles#ings"

A frequent Q reader sent in this overhead conversation by a Sanitation worker talking on his cell phone, his big rig parked at the curb outside of new coffee and foods place "Bles#ings" on Flatbush between Winthrop and Hawthorne:

"Hey, me and Fig found the perfect place."

Indeed.

Blessin#s is such a charmer! (I leave out a letter so as not to incite religious spammers - I learned my lesson). Fresh flowers for sale in the front, a mean cup of coffee, and last weekend brunch. Lily and all her staff are super sweet. William creates homemade herbal tinctures (is that considered homeopathic?) and fresh herbal teas with his mortar and pestle. No kidding folks. You can get teas made to order.

Last weekend the brunch menu was up. Here's a peek - if your zoom is good you should be able to read the offerings.

They're pouring their life into this business, and it shows. Why not let them pour you a coffee? 663 Flatbush, open early.

I can't even tell you how much I love Bles#ings. It's already my favorite place in the neighborhood. Lily and Will and everyone else there are great. At first I was worried they weren't gonna do enough business to stay open but they had a pretty brisk brunch turnover this weekend. The coffee is amazing. I'm so glad they're here.

oh, and that first thing on the menu, the eggs, avocado, goat cheese, tomato on ciabatta? so goddamn good.

This place is good vibes central! I've gone there a few times for coffee and the service is great. Looking forward to trying the brunch sometime.
